1.  Why are you interested in serving on the Iowa Association of County Extension Councils’ Board of Directors?

The opportunity to learn from others, work for betterment, and share experiences motivates me daily.  It is very rewarding to be part of Extension because of the benefits to all of Iowa and its population.  I would use my diverse background to help Extension remain strong and a cost effective educator.

2.  What contributions do you feel you could make to this association?

My experience is very broad and spans 20 plus years in business.  I have experience in finance, insurance, and community leadership.  My occupation allows the freedom to meet with councils and participate in teleconferences.

3.  What types of experiences you have had on your extension council?

I am currently in my second term as a Hardin County Council member.  This is my third year as Chairperson.  Hardin County has been blessed with the opportunity to house excellent field specialists.  I have supported them at their meetings and I attend the annual crop clinic.

4.  Please tell us briefly about yourself.

I reside in Iowa Falls, Iowa.  I am a fully licensed independent insurance agent specializing in Commercial/Farm.  I have a decade of experience in banking.  Other experience includes: Mayor of Buckeye, Iowa; Lions Club; Kiwanis Club; Church Board.  My family includes my wife, Teresa and our children - Lindsey who is a freshman at UNI and Justin who is in 7th grade in Iowa Falls.

1.   Why are you interested in serving on the Iowa Association of County Extension Councils Board of Directors?

The IACEC has the potential to be a valuable resource for County Extension Councils and their individual members.  I would like to continue being part of the process of building this organization to its potential.

2.   What contributions do you feel you could make to this association?

To be effective, every organization has to have both the visionaries and the workers who get the job done.  Considering the range of experience that I’ve had on the county council over the past ten years, coupled with a lifetime of experience with Extension and 4-H, I believe I can contribute practical expertise in executing the work of the IACEC as well as a sense of what this organization can become.

3.   What types of experiences have you had on your extension council?

Over time I’ve had the opportunity to lead and follow; be a part of effective councils and ineffective councils; take leadership in dealing with significant personnel problems, and support excellence of staff; celebrate growth in programming and Extension impact, and address the need for major change and refocus.

4.   Please tell us briefly about yourself.

A transplant from South Dakota, I am thoroughly invested in Iowa these last 30 years.  We raised our three children on the family farm and now two of them are beginning their own agricultural enterprises.  It’s safe to say we are invested in Iowa’s economy and in agriculture.  My husband and I are also teachers in Iowa’s public schools.  Our children are either graduates or working toward degrees at ISU.  We are invested in Iowa’s educational system in ISU.  As a career development specialist I work every day to help middle and high school students plan for their futures and find their own brand of success.  I believe that I’m invested in the future of Iowa as well.
