Template Instructions for 2007 XYZ County Legislative Contact Sheet:
See the sample legislative handouts prepared for Keokuk and Scott Counties below. These one-sheet handouts (printed front and back) took no more than 30 minutes to create by cutting and pasting material directly off the Web. Use them as a template and insert your county information. You can copy information from the following Web sites to create your own handout for use with constituents.
STEPS: 1. Download one of the Legislative Contact Sheet samples: Keokuk County (MS Word document) or Scott County (MS Word Document)
2. Open the file and enter your county name at top.
3. Leave information on contacting the governor in place.
4. Go to: http://www.legis.state.ia.us/aspx/Legislators/LegislatorInfo.aspx and click on "list of all senators" to retrieve contact information for your state senator(s).
5. Click on your senator by name and copy the lines that contain his/her contact information. Replace on your outline.
6. If you click on the district number below the senator’s photo, it shows a map of the district. You can verify the district’s area of coverage and list the cities, towns and townships. Another option would be to print the map and attach it to the handout. (A helpful map of the districts is at http://www.legis.state.ia.us/Maps.html.)
7. Repeat this process for your representative(s).
8. DISTRIBUTE LIBERALLY!! OUR SUPPORTERS’ VOICES MUST BE HEARD!
