Detail how your county will market this program to inform potential participants.

We will use our 4-H newsletter, letters to Master Garden & Conservationists and local garden clubs asking for volunteers for various committees and presenters for programming.  Our partners, Bremer County Conservation Board, and Bremer Water & Soil Conservation District will share information with their customers.  In addition, we will send news releases to local radio/TV stations, and local school districts monthly or as needed.  Posters will be placed in public libraries throughout the county.  We will encourage our local TV station to come a tape a segment for broadcasting at one of the programs.  Signage will be posted as to the funding source and year it was received.

Describe the new clientele that this program is intended to reach.  How does your council envision this program will interest this clientele?

More and more youth and adults are becoming aware of the need of using conservation practices whether it is in a farming operation or in their backyard.  We have targeted programs that will be interesting and fun to attend either as an individual or family.  We hope to reach youth and adults who are interested in this kind of programming, sharing the wonderful resources and education opportunities that Bremer County Extension offers.

How does your council plan to utilize the mini grant?

In phase one of this project we will use the mini grant to purchase seeds, plants, and supplies for the backyard area at the Bremer County Extension Office.  We envision this to be a lasting program that will be available for many years to the public.
